Civil Infrastructure Upgrade
Project Details
Disciplines Involved: Civil | Drainage
Location: Taihape Road, Hawke’s Bay
Client: TW Civil & Infrastructure
Completed: January 2025
This project involved critical improvements to two priority sites on Taihape Road, focusing on resilience and safety for a rural transport corridor. Works included bulk earthworks, slope stabilisation with reinforced soil systems, and construction of MSE retaining walls.
Drainage upgrades featured new reinforced concrete culverts (300–450 mm), DN1050 and DN1200 manhole chambers, subsoil drainage, and erosion control using geotextiles and coconut matting. Pavement reconstruction incorporated GAP65, AP65, and AP40 layers, with milling, saw-cutting, and tie-ins to existing roadway.
Traffic management was maintained throughout construction, and variations were managed for site-specific conditions. The completed works delivered robust drainage, stable slopes, and improved pavement structure, enhancing long-term performance and safety for the Taihape Road corridor.
